When he encounters the two peasants, he realises they may be useful to him but as the four of them travel together, they face many challenges and Tahei and Matashichi's cowardice and greed could jeopardise Makabe's mission. In 'Police Story' (1985) police officer Chan Ka-Kui (Chan) is assigned to protect informant Selina (Brigitte Lin), who is due to testify against crime lord Chu Tao (Chor Yuen). When she refuses this assistance Chan stages a mock assassination attempt in order to ensure her compliance. However, after discovering Chan's ruse, Selina does not attend the trial and Chu Tao is released on bail. With Chu Tao back on the streets Selina is in more danger than ever before. Can Chan protect her and finally bring Chu Tao to justice? In 'Police Story 2' (1988) Chan has been demoted to traffic duties following his heavy-handed manner. However, when Chu Tao is released from prison early and is intent on causing chaos around Hong Kong, Chan is brought back into the force to try and stop his old nemesis. Finally, in 'Police Story 3 - Supercop' (1992) Chan and Inspector Yang Chien-Hua (Michelle Yeoh) are tasked with travelling to mainland China to infiltrate the organisation of a dangerous drug lord. In 'Yojimbo' (1961) wandering samurai Sanjuro Kuwabatake (Mifune) arrives in a rural town in 19th century Japan which is overrun with criminals and is being fought over by two rival gangs. Determined to free the townsfolk from the oppressive grip of the gangsters, Sanjuro sparks open war between the two sides in the hope that they will destroy each other. However, his plans are complicated by the arrival of Unosuke (Tatsuya Nakadai), the younger brother of one of the gang leaders who prefers guns to swords and upsets the balance of power in the town. In the sequel 'Sanjuro' (1962) Sanjuro Tsubaki encounters a clan of samurai who have been betrayed by the local superintendent. They had intended to present a formal accusation of corruption within their clan but would have been crushed by the superintendent's men had Sanjuro not defended them. Sanjuro soon finds himself embroiled in a plot to kidnap the local chamberlain and facilitate a power grab by the superintendent, but jaded as he is, Sanjuro feels he must also object to the behaviour of his fellow samurai.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / 4K Ultra HD (Restored)</i>

In 16th century Japan, rival warlords battle for supremacy. Impoverished potter Genjuro (Masayuki Mori) leaves his wife Miyagi (Kinuyo Tanaka) and their son to take his wares to the city to sell, despite Miyagi's fears for their safety with an army so close by. His brother Tobei (Sakae Ozawa), who dreams of becoming a samurai, also leaves his wife Ohama (Mitsuko Mito) and accompanies Genjuro. While Genjuro is consumed with his desire for gold and is seduced by the mysterious Lady Wakasa (Machiko Kyô), Tobei plots to achieve his dream and Miyagi and Ohama are forced to pay the price for their husbands' choices.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray (Restored)</i>

Private Mizushima (Shôji Yasui) is the harp player for Captain Inouye (Rentarô Mikuni)'s regiment. They have been fighting in Burma but when they come across a group of British soldiers, they learn that Japan has surrended and the war is over. A small band of Japanese soldiers are fighting nearby and a British captain asks Mizushima if he can convince them to surrender and save their lives. However, they refuse his entreaties and are killed in the ensuing attack. In the aftermath, Mizushima disguises himself as a Buddhist monk and embarks on a journey to promote peace whilst also burying the dead Japanese soldiers he encounters as he travels.
