Från Studio Ghibli kommer nu en fantastisk serie om Ronja Rövardotter!<br/><br/>En stormig natt, när åskan dånar och vildvittrorna skriker, slår blixten ner i Mattisborgen och delar den i två. Denna tumultartade natt föds en liten flicka, dotter till rövarhövdingen Mattis. Hon får namnet Ronja. Ronja växer upp under ett vakande öga av Mattis, Lovis och rövarna och när hon blir tillräckligt stor får hon lov att lämna borgen för att gå ut och upptäcka den stora skogen. Hon märker snart att lika härlig och vacker som den är, lika skrämmande kan den vara. En dag möter hon en pojke vid namn Birk, Borkas son, som flyttat in i den delen av borgen som ligger på andra sidan sprickan de kallar helvetesgapet. Tokyo, i slutet av andra världskriget. 11-årige Mahito har förlorat sin mor i en brand och har svårt att acceptera att hans far har gift om sig med mammans yngre syster, Nahuto. På gården där de bor finns ett isolerat torn. När Nahuto plötsligt försvinner letar Mahito i tornet och hamnar plötsligt i en annan värld. Ett mystiskt rike där de levande och döda går sida vid sida.

På väg till det nya huset stannar Chihiro och hennes föräldrar vid en avlägsen och övergiven rastplats. Föräldrarna tar för sig av den mat som bjuds, medan Chihiro är mycket vaksam.
