In 1936, the Palestinian people begin to revolt against British colonial rule and as the situation escalates, the lives of many people are profoundly impacted. These include Yusuf (Karim Daoud Anaya), a farmer who travels regularly to Jerusalem for extra work, journalist Khouloud (Yasmine Al Massri), dock worker Khalid (Bakri) and Afra (Wardi Eilabouni) and her family, whose way of life is threatened by the influx of Jewish settlers and the actions of the British Army. Meanwhile, High Commissioner Arthur Wauchope (Irons) claims to be helping both Palestinians and Jews but many see little evidence of this, while Captain Wingate (Robert Aramayo) continues to inflict unprovoked violence upon the Palestinians he encounters.
