"Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton" framstår som den största högtidsstunden inom den brittiska bluesen. Här presenterades den nye supergitarristen Eric Clapton fullt ut. John Mayall och hans mannar fick till ett sound som låg mycket nära det de hade när de spelade live, utan kompromisser. Man hör mycket direkta influenser från Buddy Guy och en handfull andra stora amerikanska bluesartister. Men man får inte glömma de andra i bandet - John McVie som skulle möta nya framgångar i Fleetwood Mac och trummisen Hughie Flint bildade en hårt rockande rythmsektion. John Mayall är givetvis betydelsefull, men det är ändå Clapton's gitarr som är tongivnade. En av de stora bluesklassikerna.
