As a renowned hot-rodder, it's apt that Shepherd's musical career has no reverse gear. Awards, acclaim and platinum album sales flash by in a blur, vanishing in the rear-view mirror. For this questing musician, the focus is always the horizon, the next challenge, the new songs, the crowd out front stamping their feet. "We're still breaking new ground, not just repeating ourselves," notes the standard-bearer for modern blues. "Every album is representative of the things that are going on with me right now. Every album is another page in the book."<br/><br/>True to the brief, Lay It On Down is a tracklisting that runs the musical gamut, with songs that will be embraced by Shepherd's long-standing fans, alongside moments that strike out in fresh directions. "There's certain songs on this album that I think have balls and rock pretty hard," he nods. "Like Baby Got Gone, Ride Of Your Life and Down For Love. Those songs have what a lot of people will expect to hear from me and my band. Blazing guitar, rocking grooves, aggressive playing and stuff. But I wanted there to be a variety of textures and grooves and feelings and emotions conveyed through this record. So Nothing But The Night, I don't know what you'd compare that to. It doesn't sound like any other song we've ever recorded. It's a smoky, vibey kind of song."

Gatefold.<br/><br/>DeWolff bildades i Geleen långt nere i den Nederländska södern av tonåringarna Pablo (sång/gitarr) och brodern Luka van de Poel (trummor) samt hammondorganisten Robin Piso. Namnet fick de från Harvey Keitels karaktär Winston Wolfe i filmen Pulp Fiction. Deras coola, expressiva, neo-psykedeliska musik tog dem snart bort från hemstaden och ut i världen.<br/><br/>De har redan släppt fem studioalbum som samtliga hamnat på topplistan i hemlandet. Då de ännu var i tonåren spelade de på prestigefyllda Paradiso i Amsterdam och stora scenen på PinkPop-festivalen inför tiotusen fans.<br/><br/>Sedan följde ett frenetiskt turnerande där de utvecklats till ett enastående liveband. De har spelat inför trettiotusen människor på Lowland-festivalen, femtontusen på Sziget samt Reeperbahn, Rockpalast, Rock Oz Arenas samt agerat förband åt the Black Keys, Blues Pills, Ten Years After och Deep Purple.

From the day he conceived the project to the moment he counted off the first song in the studio, Walter Trout had a bolder plan for Survivor Blues. <br/><br/>"I'm riding in my car sometimes," says the US blues titan. "I've got a blues station on - and here's another band doing Got My Mojo Workin'. And there's a little voice in me that says, 'Does the world need another version of that song?' So I came up with an idea. <br/>I didn't want to do Stormy Monday or Messin' With The Kid. I didn't want to do the blues greatest hits. I wanted to do old, obscure songs that have hardly been covered. And that's how Survivor Blues started..."
