When experienced US sniper Shane Matthews (Cena) is sent to investigate an incident at a pipeline construction site in the remote Iraq desert with spotter Allen Isaac (Taylor-Johnson), the pair arrive to find everyone dead and the surrounding area seemingly deserted. However, lethal Iraqi sniper Juba (Laith Nakli) is lying in wait, and when Matthews breaks cover to take a closer look at the scene he is quickly shot and wounded. As Isaac attempts to help his stricken comrade he is also shot and is forced to take cover behind an unsteady wall.
