The hospital where she works has recently become overwhelmed with patients infected with a strange new disease which turns them into marble statues. She worries that Alpha, tattooed with an unsterilised needle, could now be infected. As Alpha awaits the results of her blood test, those around her treat her with fear and suspicion and her world begins to unravel.
