When he refuses to be drafted during the Vietnam War, he is banned from boxing and undertakes a legal battle to appeal his conviction, which entails a five year prison sentence. After he succeeds, he returns to the ring and fights to regain his title, culminating in the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman (Charles Shufford).
