Hitchcocks PSYCHO klassades som ett mästerverk och blev en gigantisk succé, medan PEEPING TOM gjord av den högt aktade och folkkäre landsmannen Michael Powell blev slaktad av brittisk press ("spola ner skiten i toaletten", skrev en kritiker). På den rasande allmänhetens begäran drogs filmen bort från biograferna bara efter fem dagar, vilket i princip ödelade Powells dittills lysande karriär. I Sverige blev filmen också illa behandlad. Hela tre gånger (!) totalförbjöds den och släpptes inte fri förrän efter 13 år.<br/><br/>I dag är filmen - om en ung man, märkt av sin barndom, som mördar kvinnor medan han filmar deras ångestfyllda dödsögonblick - sedan länge omvärderad. Belönad med 2 Oscar! Den demoniske dansimpressarion Boris Lermontov får tidigt upp ögonen för nykomlingen Vicky Page - en ung och oerhört begåvad ballerina som lever för konsten. Av henne kräver han disciplin och total hängivenhet, eftersom han vet att hon kommer att bli den klarast lysande stjärnan på danshimlen. Som prima ballerina dansar Vicky till musik av den unge kompositören Julian Craster, som förälskar sig i henne. Snart ställs hon inför en olöslig konflikt mellan kärleken till mannen, och lidelsen för konsten. De röda skorna dansar henne allt närmare katastrofens rand.

In 'Rynox' (1931) a wealthy businessman is being threatened by a mysterious stranger. When he is found murdered, his son takes over his company and begins searching for the man responsible for his father's death. In the process, he uncovers a tragic secret. In 'Hotel Splendide' (1932) a thief is released from prison and travels to the site where he buried his stolen jewels only to discover that a hotel has been built there in the interim. 'The Night of the Party' (1934) is set during a dinner party hosted by the ruthless Lord Studholme (Malcolm Keen). When he is murdered during a party game, the police must uncover which of the guests is responsible for the crime. In 'Her Last Affaire' (1936) a politician's wife is found dead at a country inn but the investigation stalls when the only suspect has an alibi. Finally, 'Behind the Mask' (1944) is an abridged version of 'The Man Behind the Mask' (1936) and follows an attempted theft at a masked ball.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Remastered</i>

As a young man he lost the woman he loved (Deborah Kerr, who plays three roles) to a Prussian officer (Anton Walbrook), whom he fought in a duel only to become lifelong friends with. Candy cannot help but feel that his notions of honour and chivalry are out of place in modern warfare.
