Naive army officer Honus Grant (Strauss) and resourceful Cresta Lee (Bergen) are the only two survivors of an attack by the Cheyenne and must attempt to reach safety together. When Cresta realises that her fiancé's cavalry unit intends to attack the peaceful inhabitants of a Cheyenne village in response, she attempts to warn the Cheyenne chief but is branded a traitor and is forced to bear witness to a brutal and bloody massacre.
