Following the untimely death of his wife, Tokyo theatre actor and Yûsuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima) employs chauffeur Misaki Watari (Tôko Miura) to drive him to a festival in Hiroshima where he is scheduled to helm a new production of Chekhov's 'Uncle Vanya'.
