Meanwhile, Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) is now totally out of control and threatening to destroy both worlds. With the oncoming threat imminent, the rebels manage to bargain Neo's freedom and begin their final quest for freedom. In 'The Matrix Resurrections' (2021), 60 years after he sacrificed himself to save the world, Neo has reverted back to his previous identity of Thomas Anderson and works as a video game designer in San Francisco. However, when a visit from Morpheus (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) leads him to question the nature of his reality, Neo finds himself facing off with his business partner, Smith (Jonathan Groff).
