In 'Once Upon a Time in China II' (1992) Wong faces the White Lotus Society, who are carrying out a host of attacks on anyone who is influenced by Western culture. He also encounters revolutionary Sun Yat-Sen (Zhang Tielin), who is trying to establish a Chinese Republic and Wong offers to protect him. Finally, in 'Once Upon a Time in China III' (1992) a competition is staged in Beijing to showcase Chinese martial arts in an attempt to restore national pride. After a series of suspicious deaths at court, the Empress herself releases Dee and orders him to investigate the deaths in time for her coronation ceremony.
