If he pays the ransom he will be ruined financially but if he does not, he will be unable to face his family or Aoki. This conflict becomes more urgent when his relationship with a young man is made public and he discovers that a member of his congregation is abusing his daughter, but is bound from intervening by the sanctity of confession. In 'Hotel Splendide' (1932) a thief is released from prison and travels to the site where he buried his stolen jewels only to discover that a hotel has been built there in the interim. 'The Night of the Party' (1934) is set during a dinner party hosted by the ruthless Lord Studholme (Malcolm Keen). When he is murdered during a party game, the police must uncover which of the guests is responsible for the crime. In 'Her Last Affaire' (1936) a politician's wife is found dead at a country inn but the investigation stalls when the only suspect has an alibi. Finally, 'Behind the Mask' (1944) is an abridged version of 'The Man Behind the Mask' (1936) and follows an attempted theft at a masked ball.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Remastered</i>
