'The Manchu Boxer' (1974) follows Gu Ruzhang (Tony Liu), a martial artist who is disowned by his father after he kills the son of a wealthy man during a fight. Hoping to reclaim his honour, he enters a martial arts tournament, unaware that some of the other contestants are willing to go to extreme lengths to win. In 'Paper Marriage' (1988) Chien Pao (Hung) is a Chinese boxer living in America who is struggling to repay his gambling debts. He agrees to marry Jade Li (Maggie Cheung) for a fee so that she can gain American citizenship but as they get to know each other, they are forced to deal with suspicious immigration officers. Meanwhile, he returns to the boxing ring but soon attracts the ire of a group of gamblers who lose money due to his unexpected success. Finally, in 'Shanghai, Shanghai' (1990), Little Tiger (Yuen Biao) arrives in Shanghai to visit his brother and immediately thwarts a robbery. In 'Marco Polo' (1975) the eponymous explorer (Richard Harrison) finds himself embroiled in a fight between the Mongol Empire and Chinese rebels in the 13th century. When an assassination attempt on the Khan (Li Tung-Chun) fails, one of the assassins, Zu Jianmin (Carter Wong), escapes. The Khan sends his three personal bodyguards and Marco Polo after Zu Jianmin with orders to kill him, but the rebel has some powerful allies... 'The Pirate' (1973) follows 19th century pirate Cheung Po Tsai (Ti Lung) in his attempts to evade capture. Young general Hu Yi (David Chiang) is hunting pirates but when he finds Cheung Po Tsai, he realises that the pirate is aiding residents of a coastal village who are being exploited by the local authorities. As he comes to respect the man and they test their skills against each other, he must decide whether to capture him or let him go free. In 'Boxer Rebellion' (1976) a group of Chinese patriots join forces to fight back against encroachment from Western nations into their country. Shuai Feng-yun (Chi Kuan-Chun), Chen Chang (Leung Kar-yan) and Tseng Hsien-han (Alexander Fu Sheng) are keen to join the uprising but the consequences of the rebellion will be brutal. Finally in 'Four Riders' (1972) Feng Hsieh (Ti Lung) is framed for the murder of an American soldier. His friends Gao Yin-Han (Wang Chung) and Li Wei-Shi (Chen Kuan-Tai) know the truth and join forces with fellow soldier Jin Yi (David Chiang) to free him before he is executed. However, although they succeed in freeing Feng Hsieh, they then find themselves on the run. His work on the case attracts the attention of Detective Anne Fong (Anita Mui) and when the gang kidnap Wei's young son Ku (Xie Miao), Wei and Fong must work together if they are going to save Ku and take down Po and his gang. 'Dr. Wai in the Scripture With No Words' (1996) follows Chow Si-Kit (Li), a novelist suffering from writer's block. When he starts composing a story about his alter ego Dr. Wai, an archaeologist and adventurer on the trail of the mysterious 'Scripture With No Words' who finds himself competing against an unscrupulous gang of villains, the line between fiction and reality become increasingly blurred. When he damages a sacred statue, he is sent to find a virginal boy who can take part in a rite to repair it and soon becomes embroiled in a fight against Old Devil (Yuen Shun-yi), an evil sorcerer seeking to increase his power. In 'The Young Taoism Fighter' (1986) a martial arts student discovers information about a forbidden fighting technique known as Shadow Separation.
