In 'Police Story' (1985) police officer Chan Ka-Kui (Chan) is assigned to protect informant Selina (Brigitte Lin), who is due to testify against crime lord Chu Tao (Chor Yuen). When she refuses this assistance Chan stages a mock assassination attempt in order to ensure her compliance. However, after discovering Chan's ruse, Selina does not attend the trial and Chu Tao is released on bail. With Chu Tao back on the streets Selina is in more danger than ever before. Can Chan protect her and finally bring Chu Tao to justice? In 'Police Story 2' (1988) Chan has been demoted to traffic duties following his heavy-handed manner. However, when Chu Tao is released from prison early and is intent on causing chaos around Hong Kong, Chan is brought back into the force to try and stop his old nemesis. Finally, in 'Police Story 3 - Supercop' (1992) Chan and Inspector Yang Chien-Hua (Michelle Yeoh) are tasked with travelling to mainland China to infiltrate the organisation of a dangerous drug lord. In 'China O'Brien' (1990) police officer Lori 'China' O'Brien resigns from the force after she is involved in the accidental death of a young boy. Upon returning to her hometown of Beaver Creek in Utah where her father John (David Blackwell) is the sheriff, she discovers that local crime boss Edwin Sommers (Steven Kerby) is attempting to take over the town using violence and intimidation. When her father is murdered, China decides to run for sheriff and take a stand against Sommers. In 'China O'Brien II' (1990) the safety of Beaver Creek is jeopardised once again when fugitive drug lord Charlie Baskin (Harlow Marks) comes to town seeking revenge against a former associate who testified against him.
