Meanwhile, radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence (Hope) finds himself tied up in the murder of a gangster and aims to flee New York. Seeking refuge in a random trunk, Larry soon finds himself on a ship bound for Cuba. When she refuses this assistance Chan stages a mock assassination attempt in order to have her comply. However, after discovering Chan's ruse Selina does not attend the trial and Chu Tao is released on bail. With Chu Tao back on the streets Selina is in more danger than ever before. Can Chan protect her as well as bring Chu Tao to justice? In the sequel, 'Police Story 2' (1988), Chan has been demoted to traffic duties following his heavy-handed manner. When her father is murdered, China decides to run for sheriff and take a stand against Sommers. In 'China O'Brien II' (1990) the safety of Beaver Creek is jeopardised once again when fugitive drug lord Charlie Baskin (Harlow Marks) comes to town seeking revenge against a former associate who testified against him.
