In 'Prime Suspect 1' Helen Mirren plays DCI Jane Tennison, who takes over the running of what appears to be an open-and-shut murder case. However, she runs into problems as her investigations lead her into the male-dominated world of policework and the hunt for a serial killer. 'Prime Suspect 2' sees Tennison called in to head an investigation into the death of a young black woman, whose body is found in the back garden of a house in London. As she begins to investigate, she finds that she is having to deal with a whole web of issues surrounding racism and sexism within the police force, as well as tracking down a killer still on the loose. In 'Prime Suspect 3' Detective Tennison is transferred from Southampton Row to the Soho Vice Squad. Ordered to clear out prostitutes and rent boys in the area, Tennison is soon embroiled in another murder case when a 17-year-old rent boy is found dead in a transsexual's flat. In 'Prime Suspect 4 - Inner Circles' the murder of a country club manager in an affluent commuter suburb of London is quickly blamed on youths from a nearby housing estate. Tennison is not so sure. 'Prime Suspect 4 - The Lost Child' sees a newly-promoted Tennison investigating a missing child case back at Southampton Row. The culprit is fingered and, when an arrest attempt backfires, Tennison finds herself in a siege situation. In 'Prime Suspect 4 - The Scent of Darkness', when a series of copycat killings take place that resemble those in the first 'Prime Suspect', Tennison is suspended from duty. Can it be that George Marlow is innocent, as he insisted all along? And how will this development affect Jane's blossoming relationship with psychologist Patrick Schofield? In 'Prime Suspect 5', with a transfer to Manchester, Tennison finds herself lecturing school children on law and order. She demands something a little more up her usual alley, and is soon investigating the murder of a drug dealer. When a 14-year-old boy confesses to the killing, Tennison suspects that someone else is responsible. In 'Prime Suspect 6 - The Last Witness' Tennison is back in London facing the prospect of early retirement when the body of a young Bosnian woman is found with evidence of torture. Tennison's investigation leads her to one, possibly two, Serbian war criminals eager to silence the last witness to a massacre a decade before. In the final installment, 'Prime Suspect 7 - The Final Act', Tennison's retirement is still on the cards but as her working life draws to and end, Jane is paying dearly for a career studded with loneliness and internally directed anger. Her demons surface and she drinks them away night after night. The body of a missing girl is found and a missing persons case becomes a murder hunt, with the girl's father telling some inconsistent stories. Tennison's handling of the case is spotty, her concentration suffering, and she is forced to admit her alcoholism after a near-accident with a young witness in her car.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD / Box Set</i>

The show follows Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) in his younger years as a police constable. Working alongside his senior partner Detective Chief Inspector Fred Thursday (Roger Allam) and DS Jim Strange (Sean Rigby), Morse engages in a number of investigations around Oxford, England. In this series, set in 1972, Morse and the team investigate when two bodies are found with ties to the Oxford Concert Orchestra, a notable artist goes missing and a group of university students cause havoc in the city. Meanwhile, Morse is conflicted as Joan (Sara Vickers)'s wedding day approaches and Thursday's actions are catching up with him, placing his family in danger. The episodes are: 'Prelude', 'Uniform' and 'Exeunt'. In 'The Sound Barrier' (1952), Ralph Richardson stars as an aircraft manufacturer whose all-consuming passion with making the ultimate supersonic jet kills both his son and son-in-law and almost destroys him and the rest of his family. In 'Hobson's Choice' (1953), Lancashire bootmaker Henry Horatio Hobson (Charles Laughton) keeps a tight rein on his three daughters until his eldest, Maggie (Brenda De Banzie), marries his assistant, Willie Mossop (John Mills), and sets him up in his own bootmaking firm. To Hobson's consternation, Willie has soon become his father-in-law's main business rival. In 'Blithe Spirit' (1945), cynical writer, Charles Condomine (Rex Harrison), asks a medium (Margaret Rutherford) to hold a seance in his house so he can collect material for his latest book. No one is more surprised than the medium when she inadvertently conjures up the ghost of Condomine's first wife (Kay Hammond). The ghost refuses to go away, preferring to taunt her less sophisticated replacement (Constance Cummings). In 'Brief Encounter' (1945), a respectable, happily married doctor (Trevor Howard) comes to the aid of an equally upstanding housewife (Celia Johnson) when a passing train blows cinder into her eye. Thus begins a tentative romance, conducted in the tearooms and railway cafe of a small English town. In 'Great Expectations' (1946), orphan, Pip (Anthony Wager), befriends an escaped convict before being elevated to higher circles as the companion of Miss Havisham and her niece, Estella (Jean Simmons), with whom the boy quickly falls in love. When the adult Pip (Mills) discovers a mysterious benefactor has paved the way for him to become a gentleman, he assumes Miss Havisham is responsible. In 'Oliver Twist' (1948), Oliver (John Howard Davis) is a young orphan boy who is expelled from the workhouse run by Mr Bumbel (Francis L. Sullivan). After becoming an apprentice to an undertaker, Oliver decides to run away to London, only to meet the Artful Dodger (Anthony Newley) and fall amongst his gang of thieves, led by the scheming Fagin (Alec Guinness). In 'Madeleine' (1949), Madeleine (Ann Todd) is the eldest daughter in a respectable Victorian Glasgow family. She begins an affair with Frenchman, Emile L'Anglier (Ivan Desny), without her father's knowledge. Meanwhile, Madeleine's father insists on her seeing various suitors. When Madeleine becomes engaged to William Minnoch (Norman Wooland), Emile threatens to reveal their relationship. 'The Passionate Friends' (1944) is an episodic tale of an average working class family in the interwar years. The story traces the melodrama caused by illicit affairs, family bereavement, the first ripples of women's liberation and political instability in the country during the General Strike. It highlights the fact that these internal wranglings are all happening in one house in an average street, and that each average house has its own dramatic stories to tell. Finally, 'In Which We Serve' (1942) is a World War II drama about a destroyer, told through flashbacks and the reminiscences of the surviving crew after their beloved ship is torpedoed.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD / Box Set</i>

In this series, Joe Ashworth (David Leon) returns from London, now a Detective Inspector with his own agenda. Meanwhile, a man is found dead after being hit by a car, the body of a sickly young girl is discovered in the middle of nowhere and the co-owner of a chip shop is found dead in his own freezer.
