This case led to an inquiry and Wildeblood, who was determined to fight for a change to the law, testified to the Wolfenden committee, which ultimately recommended the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Britain. After becoming a prostitute and then an artist, he is rejected from serving in the military in WWII and instead takes up nude modelling at an art school.
