When triangle-player Barnabás Kos, who is regularly late for rehearsals due to his civic engagements, is promoted to the position of orchestral director, he believes at first that there has been a mistake. However, over time he is corrupted by his newfound power and becomes fanatical in his vision for the orchestra, but his rise inevitably precedes his fall. The film tells the stories of the various characters interned in the labour camp-cum-scrapyard, who have been deemed counter-revolutionary and 'bourgeois' by the Czech government and are now forced to spend their days sorting out piles of scrap metal for the purposes of 're-education'. As they toil, the workers - who include a literature professor, a public prosecutor, a dairyman, a saxophonist, a barber and a cook - philosophise and flirt amid the detritus of industrial society. Although shot in 1969, the film was banned by the Czech government until the fall of the Communist regime in 1990.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray</i>

Life in a small town is disrupted by the arrival of a travelling circus and its magical cat. The children love the cat but many of the adults fear it, for when it looks at them, they glow in different colours depending on their true natures. Lovers, liars and villains are all revealed and the village descends into chaos. When the cat is stolen, the town's children are determined to rescue it.
