Living in a small village in the woods surrounding a grand castle, Popelka (Libuse Safránková) is forced to work as a servant undertaking menial tasks for her stepmother (Carola Braunbock). One day while out riding in the forest, she comes across a prince (Pavel Trávnícek) and his hunting party. After impressing the prince with her excellent hunting skills and charming him with her witty retorts, Popelka playfully dismisses his advances before returning home to her village. However, not long after the pair get together, things begin to get complicated as Z then has a chance meeting with Dóra on a boat, and mistaking her for Lili, invites her back to his cabin.
