In 'Women On the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown' (1988), distraught Pepa (Maura) considers suicide after her long-time lover leaves her without warning. 'Kika' (1993) follows a young make-up artist from Madrid as she starts a relationship with a philandering American writer. Finally, in 'The Flower of My Secret' (1995), a woman who lives a double life finds that being a successful romantic novelist does not necessarily bring happiness. Frustrated with her professional life and her disintegrating relationship with her husband, she is forced to re-evaluate her future after surviving an overdose.

In desperation, Henry enrols at Stephen Potter (Alastair Sim)'s College of Lifemanship, where he gradually learns how to get one up on the other fellow. In 'Hobson's Choice' (1954) Lancashire bootmaker Henry Horatio Hobson (Charles Laughton) keeps a tight rein on his three daughters, until his eldest, Maggie (Brenda De Banzie), marries his assistant Willie Mossop (John Mills) and sets him up in his own bootmaking firm. To Hobson's consternation, Willie soon becomes his father-in-law's main business rival. In 'The Happiest Days of Your Life' (1950) Nutborne is an all-boys school and content to stay that way, but after an evacuation of local private all-girls school, St. Swithins, the two educational establishments must find a way to co-exist as a battle of the sexes commences. A power struggle between Nutborne's headmaster Wetherby Pond (Sim) and St Swithins' headmistress Muriel Whitchurch (Margaret Rutherford) inevitably takes place, leading to much silliness and mayhem. Finally, in 'I'm All Right Jack' (1959), upon leaving the army, upper-class twit Stanley Windrush (Carmichael) takes a job in a missile factory. He winds up in London's Paddington Station, lost and alone, until he meets Mr Brown (Hugh Bonneville) and his family, who decide to look after him while he searches for his aunt's old acquaintance. However, the bear finds himself in danger when taxidermist Millicent (Nicole Kidman) attempts to get her hands on him for her museum collection. In 'Paddington 2' (2017), now settled in London and living with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, Peruvian bear Paddington has begun building a reputation as an upstanding member of his new community. After spotting a unique pop-up book which he thinks will be a perfect present for his Aunt Lucy (voice of Imelda Staunton)'s 100th birthday, Paddington sets out to complete a number of odd jobs in an attempt to raise enough money to buy it. However, when the book is suddenly stolen, Paddington and the rest of the Brown family must work together in order to catch the thief and recover the book before Aunt Lucy's big day comes around. In 'Paddington in Peru' (2024), when Paddington receives a letter from the Home for Retired Bears in Peru, they inform him that his beloved aunt has been acting strangely. Worried, Paddington plans an expedition to his homeland. Accompanied by the Browns, Paddington meets the Reverend Mother (Olivia Colman) who heads up the retirement home and provides the family with a map of the jungle where they believe Aunt Lucy may have gone.
