On the exact day of its Golden Jubilee, STATION TO STATION will be issued as a limited edition 50th anniversary half-speed mastered picture disc LP with a reproduction of a poster used to advertise the album 50 years ago.<br/><br/>The album saw Bowie relocate to Cherokee Studio in Los Angeles and incorporate elements of his 'Plastic Soul' period, coupled with much more experimental elements, which would become more prevalent over his next couple of albums. The first single from the album GOLDEN YEARS, released in November 1975, would give Bowie a top ten single on both sides of the Atlantic. The second single, TVC 15, would, a decade later, be heard and seen by almost 2 billion people when Bowie chose it to open his set at Live Aid.<br/><br/>The sound of STATION TO STATION was partly influenced by Bowie's burgeoning interest in the electronic music and driving rhythms of bands coming out of Germany, such as NEU! and Kraftwerk, most notably on the ten-minute title track, while still embracing dancefloor-friendly grooves in songs such as STAY and GOLDEN YEARS.<br/><br/>Harry Maslin, who had worked with Bowie on some of the tracks on his previous album, YOUNG AMERICANS, was chosen as Bowie's co-producer. They entered the studio in September 1975 with a tight stripped-down band featuring Carlos Alomar & Earl Slick on guitars, George Murray on bass, Dennis Davis on drums, David's Childhood friend Geoffe MacCormack (under the nom de plume Warren Peace) on backing vocals and on loan from Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band, Roy Bittan on piano and organ. Maslin has since said that the vocals on the standout track WILD IS THE WIND and GOLDEN YEARS were both Bowie's first takes.<br/><br/>Ten days after the album's release, David started the ISOLAR TOUR, which visited over 65 dates in 11 countries and is cited as being hugely influential for its use of banks of fluorescent white light set against black backdrops. At the end of the tour, Bowie started work on Iggy Pop's debut solo album, The Idiot, when the pair and producer Tony Visconti moved to Berlin to mix the record. David settled there, ready to begin his next groundbreaking musical adventure.<br/><br/>This new pressing of STATION TO STATION was cut on a customised late Neumann VMS80 lathe with fully recapped electronics from 192kHz restored masters of the original Record Plant master tapes, with no additional processing on transfer. The half-speed was cut by John Webber at AIR Studios.

Black Sabbath's first official live album, Live Evil, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year with a new Super Deluxe Edition that introduces newly remixed and remastered versions of the acclaimed double album.<br/><br/>The collections feature two versions of the legendary album: a newly remastered version by Andy Pearce along with a new mix created from the original analog multi-tracks by longtime band associate Wyn Davis. Warner Music are delighted to announce the release of a commemorative triple black vinyl album in honour of the 40th Anniversary of IRON MAIDEN's seminal third album, The Number Of The Beast, which was also the first to feature Bruce Dickinson on vocals and was to become the record which catapulted the band to international stardom. Included in the new vinyl package is Beast Over Hammersmith - available now officially for the very first time on vinyl - featuring the live concert from March 1982's now legendary Hammersmith Odeon London show from the Beast On The Road World Tour. Recorded only days before the release of The Number Of The Beast album, its remarkable to think these now classic songs at that time were still brand new, unfamiliar and being heard live by fans for the very first time. A real piece of history in the making.<br/><br/>The package features exclusive liner notes written by Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris as well as restored and expanded artwork taken from the CD format of Beast Over Hammersmith, previously only available in the Limited Edition Eddie's Archive boxset originally released in 2002. <br/><br/>Steve Harris comments, <br/>"On this vinyl release we get the chance to put Total Eclipse in its rightful spot on the album for the first time. The reason it didn't make it in the first place was that it was all a mad rush when we were finishing the record and we had to get the Run to the Hills single out before the tour and we basically had to pick a B-side and it was between Gangland and Total Eclipse and we just picked the wrong one, really! I think Total Eclipse is a stronger song and the album would have been stronger if it had been on there."

Neil Young continues his Official Release Series (ORS) with the next installment of four classic titles from the 1990s. ORS Vol 6: Discs 26, 27, 28 & 29 collects HARVEST MOON, UNPLUGGED, SLEEPS WITH ANGELS and MIRROR BALL in the ongoing reissue series. <br/><br/>Each disc in the limited edition, numbered box sets will contain 4 albums with the original, historically accurate artwork and will be reissued on double vinyl LPs, while the CD box contains single CD sets per title. MIRROR BALL is an analog recording and the album has been remastered from the original analog masters by John Hanlon and Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Additionally, four of the tracks have been remixed by John Hanlon and Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. ("I'm The Ocean", "Big Green Country", "Truth Be Known", "Throw Your Hatred Down"<br/> <br/>HARVEST MOON (ORS Disc 26), originally released in 1992, helped open a new decade of Young's music with what would become instant new classics like the title track "Harvest Moon," "From Hank to Hendrix," and "One of These Days." It included originals written in the 1980s as well as brand new songs, which quickly became fan favorites and one of the most beloved albums in Young's recorded output. <br/> <br/>UNPLUGGED (ORS Disc 27), originally released in 1993, was first recorded for an MTV Unplugged concert, along with additional live recordings. Young thoughtfully assembled a group of musicians he had recorded with over the years for this special aggregation that quickly became a collector's item as tapes were first shared from the show among his fans. The official live album is considered an acoustic one-of-a-kind release from Young's 90's cannon. <br/> <br/>SLEEPS WITH ANGELS (ORS Disc 28), originally released in 1994, is an album that wrote its own legend when released. Including the 14-minute song "Change Your Mind" and "Unknown Legend," it had a distinctiveness with Crazy Horse that Young achieved by keeping the sessions as spontaneous and immediate as possible allowing the tracks to breathe and come to life in real time. SLEEPS WITH ANGELS was the last album to be produced by Neil's long-time collaborator David Briggs, who passed away in 1995 at age 51, which also brings a special meaning to these recordings. <br/> <br/>MIRROR BALL (ORS Disc 29), is a double-album originally released in 1995 and recorded with Pearl Jam. Considering the Seattle band was one of the prime movers of rock bands in the 1990s, it was an event immediately upon its release, and found a rabid, younger audience and inspired long-time fans alike with its inherent high energy. Songs like "I Am The Ocean," "Throw Your Hatred Down" helped impact so much of the second half of the 1990s. <br/> <br/>The OFFICIAL RELEASE SERIES VOLUME 6 - DISCS 26, 27, 28 & 29 (ORS Vol 6) captures a large visceral part of the era, when Young was continuing his exploration of music with an unrelenting edge, in ways that he hadn't really done before. These four releases took him towards a new century, and anticipated some of the musical places he would soon explore. The songs also capture some of the massive changes that the 2000s would bring, and ways that music would take on challenges that are still very much being met.
