'Sparks' were originally called 'Halfnelson' from 1968-1972, formed in Los Angeles by brothers Ron and Russell Mael. The album that went by the title 'Halfnelson' in 1970, was basically the first 'Sparks' album. They are noted for Russell Mael's distinctive wide-ranging voice and Ron Mael's intricate and rhythmic keyboard playing style. This album is produced by Todd Rundgren, and engineered by James Lowe, former singer of 60's Psychedelic band 'The Electric Prunes'. This is a striking, original piece of work with many highlights including the minimal single "Wonder Girl", the gorgeous AOR ballad "Slow Boat" and the Russell-penned song "Saccharin And The War."

REISSUE

The Columbia Albums 1976-1982 anthologizes the Jaco Pastorius era of Weather Report. Black Market (1976), Heavy Weather (1977), Mr. Gone (1978), 8:30 (1979), Night Passage (1980), and Weather Report (1982) are packaged in Clamshell Box with wallets. Each disc features reproduced front and back artwork. As detailed by liner notes author Richard Seidel, the box contains 12 bonus tracks, including all the cuts from the 2002 compilation Live and Unreleased that feature Pastorius, as well as material from the 1979 Havana Jam. The 20-page booklet also features full track-by-track credits and session data.

Country with a touch of Reggae by Texan Willie Nelson. Including a guest appearance of Jamaican Reggae veteran Toots Hibbert on "I'm A Worried Man" written by June and Johnny Cash. Two tracks were written by Jimmy Cliff, among them the Reggae classic "The Harder They Come" with backing vocals from Hibbert's daughter Lieba Thomas. The rest is recorded in Jamaica in the mid 90's with mostly former Peter Tosh band members under the supervision of producer Don Was.
