When she refuses this assistance Chan stages a mock assassination attempt in order to have her comply. However, after discovering Chan's ruse Selina does not attend the trial and Chu Tao is released on bail. With Chu Tao back on the streets Selina is in more danger than ever before. Can Chan protect her as well as bring Chu Tao to justice? In the sequel, 'Police Story 2' (1988), Chan has been demoted to traffic duties following his heavy-handed manner.
