With a desire to boost the morale of her young female workers, Andula persuades the army to send some men to the rural location of her factory which has remained devoid of the male species since the breakout of war. Although spoilt for choice when the men show up, Andula meets a pianist at a dance and spends the night with him. After he leaves she becomes infatuated and follows him to Prague.
