Injured in the process, Lowell is forced to rely on his three service robots as he goes on the run in the one remaining station, determined to preserve what is left of his home planet's ecology.

When Justin's father, sociopath and recent prison escapee Krug (Garret Dillahunt), turns up at the motel with his cronies, they kidnap the girls and subject them to a sustained and brutal assault before hiding out at a remote house - which, unbeknown to the gang, is the home of Mari's parents, John (Tony Goldwyn) and Emma (Monica Potter). The perpetrators then become the victims as Mari's parents devise an increasingly gruesome sequence of tortuous revenge tactics on the men who harmed their daughter.

Meanwhile, their target Hermann Warm (Riz Ahmed) has concocted a genius but dangerous means of unearthing gold in riverbeds which has gained him both unwanted attention as well as unlikely acquaintances. When Warm and the Sisters brothers eventually cross paths, will Charlie and Eli go through with their plans or discover a lucrative way to make even more money? The cast also includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Rutger Hauer and Carol Kane.

His girlfriend Nicki (Deborah Harry) is somehow involved in the station and, as Max becomes more addicted to the violence it depicts on the screen, the boundary between real life and television disappears amidst a host of increasingly bizarre hallucinations and body transformations.

Accompanied by Harry's girlfriend Marion (Connolly), the trio attempt to get their business off the ground but are soon hit by a number of problems. With their Florida supplier cutting back on distribution and Tyrone sent to jail for his involvement in a gang shooting, Harry is forced to travel to Miami to try and score the drugs while Marion is forced into prostitution in order to feed her habit. Meanwhile, Harry's mother Sara (Burstyn) becomes addicted to weight loss pills and is hospitalised after suffering from debilitating hallucinations.
