In 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' (2013), while Gandalf heads south on his own, Bilbo, Thorin and the dwarves enter the treacherous Mirkwood Forest on their way to the mountain. When they reach Lake-town Bilbo has to perform the role he was assigned at the start of the quest - to find a secret door that will lead him to the lair of Smaug the dragon (voice of Benedict Cumberbatch). In the final instalment, 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' (2014), Bilbo, Thorin and the other dwarves have unintentionally released Smaug from the Lonely Mountain and endangered the residents of Lake-town. Bilbo has to make a difficult decision when Thorin puts his desire to find the royal jewel Arkenstone before his loyalty to his friends. Meanwhile, Gandalf discovers that the evil Sauron has returned, commanding a horde of Orcs to attack the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo and his friends must fight for their survival as five armies meet in battle. In 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' (2001) Frodo (Elijah Wood) is a hobbit living in the Shire, a quiet, peaceful part of Middle Earth. When it turns out that his elderly relative Bilbo (Ian Holm) is harbouring the ultimate Ring of Power and the evil Nazgul riders of Sauron are coming to find it, Frodo is entrusted by wizard Gandalf to deliver the Ring out of the Shire without it falling into their hands. Frodo leaves the Shire aided by his cousins Merry (Dominic Monaghan), Pippin (Billy Boyd) and trusty friend Sam Gamgee (Sean Astin), but they soon realise that the agents of Mordor are everywhere and that their trip is far from over. Once they reach the Elvish realm of Rivendell the hobbits form part of the anti-Sauron fellowship, which includes Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Boromir (Sean Bean), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) and Gandalf. Together they must battle across Middle Earth to destroy the Ring by casting it into Mount Doom, the fiery chasm in the centre of Mordor. In 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' (2002) the Fellowship of the Ring has now divided and Sam and Frodo are lost in the hills of Emyn Muil. They are also being followed by Gollum, a creature who promises to help them travel to Mordor. Meanwhile Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli search for the hobbits Merry and Pippin in the Kingdom of Rohan, which is currently being attacked by Saruman's orc armies. Gandalf returns as Gandalf the White to remind Aragorn of his destiny to unite the people of Rohan with Gondor. Whilst the Fellowship is not travelling together they must unite against the powerful forces coming from the Two Towers: Orthanc Tower in Isengard where Saruman has bred a deadly army of 10,000, and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dûr. Finally, in 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' (2003), Gandalf manages to rally Gondor's fallen army with the help of King Theoden of Rohan (Bernard Hill) for the biggest battle in the history of Middle Earth. Meanwhile, Aragorn finally faces up to his noble responsibilities. In 'Captain America: Civil War' (2016), following the events of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' (2015), the United Nations seek to oversee and control the activity of the Avengers, which causes a deep divide within the team of superheroes. The Avengers are split into two opposing factions headed by Captain America (Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), when a new threat to the safety of the world emerges. Will the Avengers be able to defeat their common enemy and repair the schism between them? Finally, in 'Captain America: Brave New World' (2025), Sam Wilson assumes the mantle of Captain America. When an attempt is made to assassinate President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), Wilson uncovers evidence of a conspiracy to sow discord and division between America and Japan. The sequel 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' (1997) is set four years later on the neighbouring Isla Sorna where the dinosaurs for the park were bred. John Hammond contacts Ian Malcolm and asks him to visit the island to document the dinosaur activity. When he learns that his girlfriend, paleontologist Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore) is already on the island, he agrees to go, not realising that a rival expedition is on its way with plans to capture the dinosaurs and transport them to the mainland. 'Jurassic Park III' (2001) sees Alan Grant approached by Paul and Amanda Kirby (William H. Macy and Téa Leoni), a wealthy couple who want a guide to escort them on a flight over Isla Sorna. Grant agrees to take the flight but as soon as they are over the island, the couple attempt a landing. Grant discovers that their son is lost on the island and they are desperate to find him but when a dinosaur attack disables the plane, the rescue party finds itself stranded and at the mercy of the island's prehistoric inhabitants. 'Jurassic World' (2015) is set 22 years after 'Jurassic Park' (1993) when Isla Nublar is reopened as a theme park. In order to boost attendance, operations manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) asks the park's geneticists to create genetically modified hybrid dinosaurs, the latest product of their experimentation being the Indominus rex. But when the Indominus rex escapes and begins killing other dinosaurs for sport, it's left to park staff member and behavioural researcher Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to save the park's inhabitants. In 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' (2018), the Jurassic World theme park now lies in ruins and the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar have been left to roam freely on the island. However, with a massive volcanic eruption threatening their existence, Claire Dearing recruits Owen Grady and the two return to the island in a bid to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from the impending disaster. With time running out, the pair soon find their plans complicated further when they uncover a conspiracy which could put the future of the world at risk. In 'Jurassic World: Dominion' (2022), dinosaurs now live alongside humans all over the world. Owen Grady and Claire Dearing are joined by Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm to try to determine whether the two species can live together in peace. Finally, 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' (2025) is set five years later when most of the world's surviving dinosaurs have settled in remote tropical regions. Mercenary Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) is recruited by a pharmaceutical company to obtain DNA from three different species of hybrid dinosaurs to further life-saving and lucrative medical research. In 'Mad Max 2' (1981), following the road-side slaughter of his family, ex-cop Max roams the post-apocalyptic landscape alone. Reluctantly taking a pit-stop at a desert-set fortress, Max is gradually persuaded to help protect the people inside it and the commodity that makes it a prime target for marauding gangs - fuel. In 'Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome' (1985) Max, arriving in Bartertown in search of some stolen property, has to fight a duel in the Thunderdome arena. He is exiled to the desert by Bartertown's ruler, Auntie (Tina Turner), where he is rescued by a community of feral children. In 'Mad Max: Fury Road' (2015) Max (Tom Hardy) has been captured by a gang, led by the tyrannical Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). In order to escape Max teams up with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman who wants to travel across the desert and find her way back home. But, after liberating five female captives from Joe's clutches, she too must escape from the crazy gang leader and his henchmen.
