Set in Middle Earth 60 years before events in 'The Lord of the Rings', 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' (2012) follows the adventures of hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who, at the instigation of the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), suddenly finds himself co-opted into joining a company of 13 Dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) to help reclaim the dwarves' lost kingdom of the Lonely Mountain from the clutches of a dragon. After setting out on their quest from the safety of Bag End, the band of travellers soon find themselves pitted against a range of strange and fearsome opponents, in addition to a small, slimy creature known simply as Gollum (Andy Serkis). In 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' (2013), while Gandalf heads south on his own, Bilbo, Thorin and the dwarves enter the treacherous Mirkwood Forest on their way to the mountain. When they reach Lake-town Bilbo has to perform the role he was assigned at the start of the quest - to find a secret door that will lead him to the lair of Smaug the dragon (voice of Benedict Cumberbatch). In the final instalment, 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' (2014), Bilbo, Thorin and the other dwarves have unintentionally released Smaug from the Lonely Mountain and endangered the residents of Lake-town. Bilbo has to make a difficult decision when Thorin puts his desire to find the royal jewel Arkenstone before his loyalty to his friends. Meanwhile, Gandalf discovers that the evil Sauron has returned, commanding a horde of Orcs to attack the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo and his friends must fight for their survival as five armies meet in battle. In 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' (2001) Frodo (Elijah Wood) is a hobbit living in the Shire, a quiet, peaceful part of Middle Earth. When it turns out that his elderly relative Bilbo (Ian Holm) is harbouring the ultimate Ring of Power and the evil Nazgul riders of Sauron are coming to find it, Frodo is entrusted by wizard Gandalf to deliver the Ring out of the Shire without it falling into their hands. Frodo leaves the Shire aided by his cousins Merry (Dominic Monaghan), Pippin (Billy Boyd) and trusty friend Sam Gamgee (Sean Astin), but they soon realise that the agents of Mordor are everywhere and that their trip is far from over. Once they reach the Elvish realm of Rivendell the hobbits form part of the anti-Sauron fellowship, which includes Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Boromir (Sean Bean), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) and Gandalf. Together they must battle across Middle Earth to destroy the Ring by casting it into Mount Doom, the fiery chasm in the centre of Mordor. In 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' (2002) the Fellowship of the Ring has now divided and Sam and Frodo are lost in the hills of Emyn Muil. They are also being followed by Gollum, a creature who promises to help them travel to Mordor. Meanwhile Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli search for the hobbits Merry and Pippin in the Kingdom of Rohan, which is currently being attacked by Saruman's orc armies. Gandalf returns as Gandalf the White to remind Aragorn of his destiny to unite the people of Rohan with Gondor. Whilst the Fellowship is not travelling together they must unite against the powerful forces coming from the Two Towers: Orthanc Tower in Isengard where Saruman has bred a deadly army of 10,000, and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dûr. Finally, in 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' (2003), Gandalf manages to rally Gondor's fallen army with the help of King Theoden of Rohan (Bernard Hill) for the biggest battle in the history of Middle Earth. Meanwhile, Aragorn finally faces up to his noble responsibilities. One such customer (Ed Harris) enters the park in search of a maze and like so many of his fellow clients attacks two of the robots, Teddy and Dolores (James Marsden and Evan Rachel Wood), shortly after his arrival. Dolores' subsequent strange behaviour leads Dr. Ford to investigate her programming, which appears normal, but it seems she is not the only host displaying changes in their behaviour... This time the location is Miami, where O'Conner has been making money out of street racing and is tasked with bringing down the drugs baron Carter Verone (Cole Hauser) in exchange for wiping clean his criminal record. In 'The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift' (2006) street racing loner Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) avoids jail time by absconding to Tokyo to live with his uncle in a cramped apartment. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by drift racing, an even more deadly combination of brutal speed on heart-stopping courses. Boswell inevitably gets drawn into the racing and the complexities of the underworld which surround it. In 'Fast & Furious' (2009) fugitive ex-con Dominic Toretto reignites his feud with agent O'Conner on the streets of Los Angeles, but as the two men find themselves facing a common enemy in the form of a heroin importer, their attempts to infiltrate his operation result in an unlikely alliance. In 'Fast & Furious 5' (2011) Toretto and his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) are forced to enlist O'Conner's help once again as they find themselves cornered by a ruthless drugs gang in Rio de Janeiro. But the Rio gangsters are not the only ones on Toretto's tail; wily federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) has also been assigned to track down the pair, and will stop at nothing to corner his prey. In 'Fast & Furious 6' (2013) Toretto and the rest of his compatriots are forced to kill time lying low in different locations around the world following their lucrative Rio heist. When agent Hobbs offers Toretto and his crew full pardons in return for taking down Owen Shaw (Luke Evans)'s gang of mercenary drivers, the offer seems too good to pass. But as the rivals head for a showdown on the streets of London, Toretto learns that Shaw's second in command is none other than his presumed dead former lover, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). In 'Fast & Furious 7' (2015) the group are now being targeted by Shaw's ex-special forces brother Deckard (Jason Statham). Left with no choice but to defend themselves, it isn't long before Toretto, Hobbs, O'Conner and the rest of the gang become embroiled in a feud between international terrorists and the US government. In 'Fast & Furious 8' (2017) the team are left shocked when their leader Toretto betrays them after being seduced into a world of crime by international cyberterrorist Cipher (Charlize Theron). Teaming up with DSS agent Hobbs and former nemesis Deckard Shaw, Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris) and the rest of the gang must set out on a dangerous mission to take down their new enemy and bring Toretto home. Thankfully, the turtles have been armed with an anti-mutant antidote and, with the help of a journalist, embark on an adventure to save Splinter. In 'The Secret of the Ooze' (1991) Professor Perry (David Warner), the man who invented the ooze that created the ninja turtles, is captured by Shredder (Francois Chau). Shredder wants to control the ooze to use on his own sidekicks and turn them into evil ninjas. So once again, it's up to the turtles - who have also enlisted the help of kick-boxing, pizza-delivery boy, Keno (Ernie Reyes) - to save Professor Perry. In 'Transformers' (2007) a battle rages between two camps of an alien race from the planet Cybertron - the Autobots and the evil Decepticons. In an effort to prevent the Decepticons from gaining possession of the Allspark, a cube with the capacity to grant infinite power, the Autobots managed to smuggle the object to Earth, where they secretly hid it. Now, hundreds of years later, with the Decepticons searching for the cube, the Autobots enlist the help of young earthling Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) to help foil the Decepticons' plans for world domination. In 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' (2009), after he glimpses the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers through a powerful vision sent to him by the Allspark, Sam once again finds himself the target of the evil Decepticons, who have returned to Earth under the command of the formidable Starscream (voice of Charles Adler). Joining the Autobots' mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), who forms an alliance with international armies for this second epic battle. In 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' (2011), when the Autobots discover that a Cybertronian spacecraft is hidden on the Moon, a race against the Decepticons ensues as both sides battle to reach it first. In 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' (2014), four years after the invasion of Chicago, mechanic and single parent Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) discovers what he believes to be a dilapidated truck and takes it home to repair. However, what he really has resting in his garage is a deactivated Optimus Prime. When government officials learn of the discovery they try to push humanitarian boundaries in the name of scientific development. Finally, in 'Transformers: The Last Knight' (2017), with the battle between the human race and the Transformers raging on, mechanic Cade Yeager forms an alliance with English Lord Sir Edmund Burton (Anthony Hopkins) in an attempt to figure out why the Transformers keep returning to Earth. Meanwhile, Autobots leader Optimus Prime learns he was responsible for the death of his home world Cybertron.
