All the while Bridget records her misadventures in her diary in an attempt to take control of her life. In 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' (2004), having finally found the perfect man in Mark Darcy, Bridget is now faced with the even bigger challenge of keeping him. When her self-doubt returns and her womanising ex Daniel Cleaver reappears in her life, Bridget finds herself stuck in a Thai prison on drugs charges. As Mark fights for her release, Bridget finally realises that he is her one true love. In 'Bridget Jones's Baby' (2016), following her break-up with Mark Darcy, Bridget decides to focus on her career as a top news producer while also attempting to enjoy the single life with her friends. Her love life takes another turn when she meets suave American Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey), who helps her out after she gets into a spot of bother at a music festival. With a new relationship flourishing and everything seemingly under control, it's not long before there's a hitch - she discovers she's pregnant. Unsure if the father is Mark or Jack, Bridget is yet again faced with making some awkward and ultimately life-changing decisions. Finally, in 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' (2025), Bridget is forced to navigate a new chapter in her life as a widow and single mother to two young children. When she attempts to start dating again, she is pursued by the much younger Roxster McDuff (Leo Woodall) while also growing closer to her son's science teacher Scott Walliker (Chiwetel Ejiofor).<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD / Box Set</i>

Gustav van Aschenbach (Dirk Bogarde) is an aging German composer who is visiting Venice. Having given up on his existence, he is stirred from his torpor by a young boy named Tadzio (Bjorn Andresen) who seems to represent his ideal of physical beauty and purity. When her husband is killed in a car crash, Alice (Ellen Burstyn) leaves her home in Socorro, New Mexico and heads west with her son Tommy (Alfred Lutter), determined to return to her home town of Monterey in California and make her own way in life as an independent woman. In order to reach Monterey however, Alice will have to stop off along the way to make enough money for her and Tommy to survive. Using the only talent she has, she plans to take singing gigs wherever possible. They stop in Arizona and Alice ends up having to work as a waitress in a diner while Tommy is largely left to fend for himself as his mum lapses back into old habits, relying on men to give her fulfilment. As they break off their engagement Larry travels to Paris and then India where he seeks enlightenment away from the values of modern society.
