In 'Suzanne's Career' (1963), a young student finds himself consumed by jealousy and resentment over his friend's treatment of a beautiful young woman. In 'The Girl at the Monceau Bakery' (1963), a young man's affections are divided between two women. In 'La Collectioneuse' (1967), two young men are staying in a friend's villa in St Tropez when a young woman comes to stay, invited by the absent owner. She turns out to be a 'collector' of men, sleeping with a different man every night, and the two young men decide to offer her moral counselling. 'My Night at Maud's' (1969) tells the story of a Catholic engineer determined to marry a woman he has seen in church. The eye-opening (and ultimately chaste) night he spends with the independent divorcee Maud robs him of the courage of his convictions. 'Claire's Knee' (1970) details a middle-aged man's passion for his friend's teenage daughter. Holidaying at Lac d'Annecy, diplomat Jerome (Jean-Claude Brialy) meets his old friend Aurora (Aurora Cornu) and accepts a wager in which he must enter into a flirtation with besotted teenager Laura (Beatrice Romand). However, things get more serious when Jerome develops feelings for Laura's sister Claire (Laurence de Monaghan), and begins to focus all his energies upon finding a way to caress the young woman's knee. 'Love in the Afternoon' (1972), the last in the sequence, is a subtle study of love and monogamy. Bernard Verley stars as Frederic, a bourgeois businessman living in the suburbs of Paris with his wife Helene (Francoise Verley), a teacher who is expecting their second child. Their marriage is happy and loving, but Frederic can't stop fantasising about other women. When Chloe (Zouzou), his beautiful ex-girlfriend, returns to Paris after working in America as a model, she starts seeing Frederic again, and they begin to meet in the afternoons on a platonic basis to talk about their lives. Eventually Chloe, who is trapped in a relationship with a man she no longer loves, tries to seduce Frederic, and he is faced with a decision that is both complex and achingly simple.

Typ: DVD / Box Set

Betrayed by his childhood friend Fernand (Bastien Bouillon), sailor Edmond Dantes (Pierre Niney) is found guilty of a crime he didn't commit and sent to the island prison of Chateau d'If. More than a decade later, having studied fencing with fellow inmate Abbé Faria (Pierfrancesco Favino), who also revealed to him the location of a vast treasure hidden on the island of Monte-Cristo, Edmond realises that the time has come to plan his escape. Taking the treasure for himself, he reappears as the Count of Monte-Cristo and becomes the talk of Parisian society. His happiness is short-lived however when he learns that Fernand has married Mercédès (Anaïs Demoustier), Edmond's own childhood sweetheart. The cast also includes Anamaria Vartolomei, Laurent Lafitte and Patrick Mille.

Typ: DVD

In 'Delicatessen' (1990), in a burnt-out city on the verge of collapse, a canny butcher (Jean-Claude Dreyfus) employs various young handymen, kills them, and then sells them as meat. When ex-circus performer Louison (Dominique Pinon) arrives looking for work, it seems that his head will be the next on the block. But Louison falls in love with Julie (Marie-Laure Dougnac), the butcher's daughter, and together they join forces with an underground vegetarian group who plan to bring an end to the butcher's cruel regime. 'The City of Lost Children' (1995) is set on a futuristic oil rig, where a man, Krank (Daniel Emilfork), has aged prematurely because he has lost the ability to dream. To reverse the ageing process he kidnaps children from the local harbour town so that he can steal their dreams. Finally, 'The Bunker of the Last Gunshots' (1981) is a short film about a group of soldiers living in a bleak futuristic world.

Typ: DVD / Box Set

OBS! Import. Kontrollera att språk och textning passar dig.

A box set of French director Eric Rohmer's four films inspired by the seasons. 'A Tale of Springtime' (1989) is the story of a friendship between a high school philosophy teacher and a music student. Caught between apartments, philosophy teacher Jeanne (Anne Teyssedre) attends a party, where a young girl, Natasha (Florence Darel), invites her to stay at the flat she shares with her father, Igor (Hugues Quester). Presently Jeanne finds herself witness to, then participating in, recriminatory scenes between daughter, father and his youthful lover, Eve (Eloise Bennett): jealous Natasha detests Eve, accusing her of theft, while Igor seems more than willing to be left with Jeanne. Rohmer examines the hidden motives and analyses the consequences of their actions, finding nobody wholly innocent. In 'A Winter's Tale' (1992), Parisian hairdresser Felicie (Charlotte Very) has a wonderful holiday romance with a man called Charles (Frédéric Van Den Driessche) in Brittany. She discovers she is pregnant but, through a mix-up over addresses, she loses contact with her lover. As her daughter grows up she finds it impossible to settle with another man, although she wavers between two suitors, and daydreams of Charles finding them again. In 'A Summer's Tale' (1996), Gaspard (Melvil Poupard), a bored young man on holiday in Brittany, is invited to a party by Margot (Amanda Langlet) while he is waiting for his classmate Lena (Aurelia Nolin), with whom he believes he is in love. At Margot's party Gaspard meets another girl, Solène (Gwenaelle Simon), who is also attracted to him. When Lena arrives too, Gaspard is forced to choose between the three girls. In the fourth and final instalment, 'An Autumn Tale' (1998), happily-married Rhone Valley wine-grower Isabelle (Marie Rivière) wants to see her widowed friend Magali (Béatrice Romand) matched up. To this end, she secretly places a lonely hearts ad in a paper on Magali's behalf and chooses a man for her. Misunderstandings ensue, however, when Magali sees Isabelle acting suspiciously with a mystery guest at her daughter's wedding. The film won the Silver Lion for Best Screenplay at the Venice Film Festival.

Typ: DVD / Box Set
