Journalist Reiko Endo (Yasuko Matsuyuki) travels to Nagaoka, a city devastated by bombing during WWII and then again in 2004 by the Chuetsu earthquake. After the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, the people of Nagaoka took in many people from the affected region, offering them food and shelter.
