In each case the murderer is found near the scene of the crime with no memory of committing it. The perpetrators are revealed to be ordinary citizens who all interacted with the same mysterious man shortly before inexplicably killing someone. Meanwhile, Rokurota Makabe (Mifune), a renowed Akizuki general, is attempting to escort Princess Yuki (Misa Uehara) to safety. When he encounters the two peasants, he realises they may be useful to him but as the four of them travel together, they face many challenges and Tahei and Matashichi's cowardice and greed could jeopardise Makabe's mission. When two truck drivers, Goro (Tsutomu Yamazaki) and Gun (Ken Watanabe), stop at a noodle shop, they witness a young boy being beaten up and step in to help. When they discover that the boy is the son of the shop's owner Tampopo (Nobuko Miyamoto), they also learn that her business is struggling and try to think of ways to help her out. As they put their heads together, they come up with a plan to turn Tampopo's diner into a workshop providing lessons on how to make the perfect noodle soup.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Restored</i>

Takashi Shimura plays the drunken angel of the title, a doctor working in a devastatingly poor area of immediately-post-war Tokyo. The area is overrun with competing gangsters who have lost most of their power during the American occupation. Toshiro Mifune - in the first leading role that made him a star - plays a handsome young hoodlum who one night comes to the doctor's surgery with a small bullet wound in his hand. The doctor treats the wound but also diagnoses Mifune as having tuberculosis. The gangster's arrogance prevents him from acknowledging his illness, but his position within his organisation increasingly comes under threat.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

In this tale of revenge, Koichi Nishi (Toshiro Mifune) obtains a position as private scretary to Iwabuchi (Masayuki Mori), the government official he suspects killed his father. Nishi then marries Iwabuchi's daughter and plans a fitting retribution.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

Meanwhile the gun is passed from the pickpocket who stole it to a young gangster and is then used in the killing of an innocent woman. Murakami's guilt and remorse over this death leads him to ask senior detective Sato (Takashi Shimura) for help and together the two of them do everything they can to find the gun before the killer strikes again.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray</i>

If he pays the ransom he will be ruined financially but if he does not, he will be unable to face his family or Aoki.
