Efter tre långfilmer på 50-talet kom han tillbaka med besked och skapade inte mindre än elva sexploitationfilmer i samarbete med producenten Inge Ivarson mellan 1969 och 1975. Wickmans stora genombrott kom med sexupplysningsfilmen Kärlekens språk (1969), som blev en enorm exportsuccé och fick fyra uppföljare.
