NY BOX MED DIGITALT RENOVERADE MÄSTERVERK AV AKIRA KUROSAWA<br/><br/>Efter succén med vår första Kurosawa-box, som fokuserade på mästerregissörens samurajepos, kommer snart box nr två. Även denna packad med idel mästerverk i digitalt renoverat skick.<br/><br/>RAN (1985). I 1500-talets Japan är Hidetora Ichimonji en av de mäktigaste klanledarna. En position han nått genom plundringar och mord. Nu är han gammal och lämnar över makten till sina söner Taro, Jiro och Sabura. Därmed hoppas han få slut på våldet. Men istället blir det precis tvärtom... Kurosawas sista riktigt storslagna film, byggd på Shakespeares "Kung Lear", som 1985 var den överlägset dyraste filmen i Japans historia. Vinnare av en Oscar (Bästa kostymer) och nominerad till ytterligare tre (regi, foto, scenografi).<br/><br/>KAGEMUSHA - SPÖKGENERALEN (1980). Under 1570-talet kämpar de japanska klanerna om herraväldet. Länsherren Shingen Takeda anställer en tjuv som sin dubbelgångare att användas för att vilseleda fienden. När Shingen dör får tjuven ta hans plats för att fienden fortfarande ska tro att han är i livet. Vasallerna har förordnat att han ska vara i tjänst under tre år framåt, men dubbelgångaren har helt andra planer... Producerad av de stora Kurosawa-fansen Francis Ford Coppola och George Lucas. Belönad med Guldpalmen i Cannes och nominerad till två Oscar (Bästa utländska film och Bästa scenografi).<br/><br/>DODES'KA-DEN (1970). Kurosawas kanske mest udda film, vilken utspelas i Tokyos slumkvarter och bland annat följer en ung man med intellektuell funktionsnedsättning som älskar spårvagnar och ständigt härmar deras ljud (som, enligt honom, låter "Dodes'ka-den"). Oscarnominerad för Bästa utländska film.<br/><br/>RÖDSKÄGG (1965). Under 1820-talet kommer en ung medicinare med dåligt humör till en landsortsstad för att börja sin praktik. Under stigande ilska inser han att han inte alls ska syssla med finare privatpraktik, utan istället är placerad på ett allmänt sjukhus för att ta hand om fattiga patienter. Kurosawas sista film med Toshiro Mifune. Efter ständiga gräl beslöt de att gå skilda vägar.<br/><br/>HIMMEL OCH HELVETE (1963). Toshiro Mifune i stark filmatisering av Ed McBain-deckaren "Hotet" från 1959. Den förmögne affärsmanen Kingo Gondo får veta att hans son har blivit kidnappad och gör sig redo att betala lösensumman. Men snart visar det sig att kidnapparna tagit fel barn. De har råkat ta chaufförens son. Kommer Gondo ändå att betala lösensumman?<br/><br/>IKIRU - ATT LEVA (1952). En åldrande byråkrat försöker finna en mening med livet efter att han fått reda på att han drabbats av obotlig cancer. En av Kurosawas mest älskade filmer. Belönad med Juryns specialpris i Berlin.

Sing är en hjälplös och feg småtjuv i det kaotiska Kina på 1940-talet, som nästan skulle göra allt för att bli medlem i det ökända maffiagänget Axe Gang. När han försöker råna en frisör i bostadsområdet Pig Sty Alley, som fejkad Axe Gang-medlem misslyckas han helt då de boende i området inte riktigt är lika vanliga som de ser ut att vara. Det enda han lyckas med är få Axe-gang att vilja hämnas.<br/><br/>Stephen Chow (director and star of Shaolin Soccer ) is at it again with his action-packed and comedic martial-arts adventure, KUNG FU HUSTLE. From wildly-imaginative kung fu showdowns to dance sequences featuring tuxedoed mobsters, you've never seen action this outrageous and charactersthis zany! In 'Ju-On: The Curse' (2000), school teacher Shunsuke Kobayashi (Yûrei Yanagi) makes a house call to check on his student Toshio Saeki (Ryota Koyama) after his repeated absences from school. In doing so he uncovers the horrific murder of Toshio's mother Kayako (Takako Fuji) within the Saeki household, a murder so violent that it induced a curse upon the house and all who enter it. In 'Ju-On: The Curse 2' (2000), which retells certain stories of the first film, a new family living in the house become afflicted with the curse. At the same time Tatsuya Suzuki (Makoto Ashikawa), a real estate agent, employs his psychic sister Kyoko (Yuko Daike) to help investigate the house, but in doing so they unwittingly bring the curse back to their family. In 'Ju-On: The Grudge' (2002), social worker Rika Nishina (Megumi Okina) is tasked with looking after the elderly Sachie Tokunaga (Chikako Isomura), who lives with her family at the cursed house. While there, Rika is shocked to find a young boy named Toshio (Yuya Ozeki) shortly before she witnesses Sachie's death, seemingly caused by a ghost. The following police investigation brings more people to the cursed house, allowing it to spread further than ever before. In 'Ju-On: The Grudge 2' (2003) Kyoko Harase (Noriko Sakai) is invited to join a TV production investigating rumours about the cursed household, and though they experience little in the way of paranormal events while filming, the team soon experiences their own horrors after being subjected to the curse. In 'Ju-On: Black Ghost' (2009), after school girl Fukie (Hana Matsumoto) is rushed to hospital following a collapse, she exhibits strange behaviour and is placed under supervision. When it is revealed that Fukie's behaviour is due to a strange cyst that may be the physical remnant of a merged twin, attempts to deal with the cyst soon unleash an evil spirit intent on revenge. Finally, in 'Ju-On: White Ghost' (2009), Atsushi Isobe (Tsuyoshi Muro) becomes possessed after moving to a new house, causing him to kill his entire family before hanging himself in the nearby forest. As he is dying, Atsushi records his final words onto a cassette, turning it into a cursed object that kills anyone who listens to it.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Box Set</i>

In 'Crime Hunter: Bullets of Rage' (1989) Detective Joe Kawamura (Masanori Sera) joins forces with a nun called Lily (Minako Tanaka) to exact revenge on the criminal who killed Joe's partner Ahiru (Riki Takeuchi) and stole millions from Lily's church. 'Neo Chinpira: Zoom Goes the Bullet' (1990) follows low-level yakuza Junko (Shô Aikawa) who is called upon to avenge the murder of a high-ranking member of their family and must decide if he will act or flee and risk the consequences. In 'Stranger' (1991) Kiriko (Yûko Natori) works as a taxi driver at night and finds herself pursued relentlessly by a mysterious enemy. In 'Carlos' (1991) the eponymous Brazilian-Japanese criminal travels to Japan and becomes embroiled in the conflict between two warring yakuza families. 'Burning Dog' (1991) follows a gang of thieves who plan to rob an American military base in Okinawa but the heist ends in disaster and betrayal. In 'Female Prisoner Scorpion: Death Threat' (1991) an elite assassin tasked with entering a women's prison and eliminating an infamous prisoner encounters more than she bargained for during the course of her mission. 'The Hitman: Blood Smells Like Roses' (1991) follows Yuichiro Takanashi (Hideki Saijô) who takes on the yakuza in a desperate, revenge-fuelled frenzy after his fiancée is shot and killed. In 'Danger Point: The Road to Hell' (1991) yakuza hitmen Joji (Jô Shishido) and Ken (Aikawa) embark on a mission to locate a large amount of missing money and find their partnership tested in the process. Finally, 'XX: Beautiful Hunter' (1994) follows Shion (Makiko Kuno) who was raised to be an assassin but rebels when she is tasked with killing Ito (Johnny Okura), the man she loves.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Box Set (Limited Edition)</i>

In 'The Enforcer' (1995) police officer Kung Wei (Li) is sent undercover to hunt down Po (Yu Rongguang), a dangerous crime boss involved in arms trafficking. His work on the case attracts the attention of Detective Anne Fong (Anita Mui) and when the gang kidnap Wei's young son Ku (Xie Miao), Wei and Fong must work together if they are going to save Ku and take down Po and his gang. 'Dr. Wai in the Scripture With No Words' (1996) follows Chow Si-Kit (Li), a novelist suffering from writer's block. When he starts composing a story about his alter ego Dr. Wai, an archaeologist and adventurer on the trail of the mysterious 'Scripture With No Words' who finds himself competing against an unscrupulous gang of villains, the line between fiction and reality become increasingly blurred. In the first film, 'Sympathy for Mr Vengeance' (2002), deaf mute Ryu (Shin Ha-Kyun) has saved all his hard-earned money for his sister who requires a kidney transplant. He has the wrong blood type to be able to donate one of his kidneys, so he arranges a trade with a group of black-market organ dealers: one of his kidneys and 10 million won in return for their finding a kidney for his sister. Just as the criminals renege on the deal, a legitimate kidney becomes available for transplant. Unfortunately, Ryu no longer has the 10 million won required for the hospital to perform the operation. In retaliation, he and his political activist girlfriend kidnap his former boss's daughter - but events quickly spiral quickly out of control... The second film, 'OldBoy' (2003), is another vibrant and twisted revenge thriller. Oh Dae-Su (Choi Min-Sik) has never taken his role as husband and father seriously and has just been released from police custody for drunk and disorderly behaviour on his own baby daughter's birthday. When he finds himself in solitary confinement in a prison cell after being mysteriously abducted on the street, he has no idea what is going on or why. A year into his imprisonment, he learns from the small television in his cell that his wife is dead, and that he himself is suspected of the crime. When, fifteen years later, he is released as suddenly and inexplicably as he was detained, he is determined to track down his tormentors and wreak his revenge. But little does he know that his kidnappers have even worse horrors in store for him... In 'Lady Vengeance' (2005), Geum-ja Lee (Yeong-ae Lee) is a young woman who works for underworld crime boss Mr Baek (Min-sik Choi). Taking the fall for the abduction and murder of a child, Geum-ja is sent to prison at the age of 19. When she realises that she has been framed by Mr Baek himself, she spends 13 years in prison planning her revenge.
