Jeff (Tobey Maguire) och Nealy (Elizabeth Banks) bor i en idyllisk förort och har varit lyckligt gifta i 10 år. Having had a close relationship his niece, Ashley (Storm Reid), detective Jack Radcliff (David Oyelowo) is devastated by the massive blow and tortures himself over how things could have been different if he had been given the chance to stop the killings.
