Focusing in particular on the austere and often brutal environment of the village school, the film not only exposes the cruelty and hypocrisy of adults towards children but offers an insight into the undercurrents of patriarchy and repression that went on to shape 20th-century Germany. As the outbreak of war draws near, a series of violent and unexplained events shake the small community to its core. Played out in two acts, the film opens with the wedding of Justine (Dunst) and Michael (Alexander Skarsgård): a sumptuous affair paid for by Justine's Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her husband John (Kiefer Sutherland). However, when Justine notices a strange star in the sky, she starts behaving oddly and the wedding is ruined. The film's second act follows Justine, now extremely weak and ill, after she goes to live with her sister. As Claire and John struggle to deal with Justine's condition, astronomy buff Claire becomes increasingly concerned about a large blue planet that is threatening to collide with the earth. Although she expresses her wish to die, even going so far as to make an attempt at taking her own life, George tries to remind her of the beauty and worth of life itself and the love that they share for each other. Presented in four chapters with a prologue and epilogue, the film charts the often violent and disturbing course of the couple's anguish as they immerse themselves in nature and act out their deep suffering in a sequence of increasingly bizarre and brutal rituals.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray</i>

Koji Yakusho stars as respected samurai warrior Shinzaemon Shimada, who gathers together 13 skilled assassins to bring down the evil Lord Naritsugu (Goro Inagaki), a merciless killer who gets his kicks from brutally murdering women and children. The film ends with a 45-minute battle sequence in which the 13 assassins take on an army of 200 men, dispensing with them in a profusion of inventive and surprising ways.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray</i>

The tale is set in the 1970s, when Italian horror films, particularly those belonging to the 'giallo' genre, were known for being shot soundless, with the effects and language tracks added later so that the movies could be dubbed into multiple languages and marketed more effectively abroad. The British sound engineer, Gilderoy (Toby Jones), works in one such studio, stabbing and otherwise assaulting vegetables to provide the requisite sounds for a horror flick. However, the more time Gilderoy spends in the studio, the more he is drawn into the world of the films on which he works. Some of the horror seems to stem from within, as Gilderoy revisits moments from his past, but it leaves him precariously poised between the real world and the imaginative realm represented by the films...<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray</i>
