Så länge det är ärligt. Så nu med War In My Mind har låtskrivaren gjort ett album som blottar hennes själ och hennes känslor utan att be om ursäkt. <br/><br/>Beth Hart berättar:<br/>"Då vi plåtade omslaget var det första gången som jag sa: "ingen make-up, inget retuscherande" Det var första gången då jag inte blev äcklad av att höra vad jag sa. Det kändes bara skönt att vara 47 år och inte längre försöka vara ung och konkurrenskraftig och allt det där som jag alltid känt att jag behövde vara. På den här plattan kände jag att jag bara behövde vara mig själv. Jag tror att detta är ett litet steg emot vem jag egentligen är. Jag vet kanske inte vart det leder...men det känns ok för mig."

From the day he conceived the project to the moment he counted off the first song in the studio, Walter Trout had a bolder plan for Survivor Blues. <br/><br/>"I'm riding in my car sometimes," says the US blues titan. "I've got a blues station on - and here's another band doing Got My Mojo Workin'. And there's a little voice in me that says, 'Does the world need another version of that song?' So I came up with an idea. <br/>I didn't want to do Stormy Monday or Messin' With The Kid. I didn't want to do the blues greatest hits. I wanted to do old, obscure songs that have hardly been covered. And that's how Survivor Blues started..."

As a renowned hot-rodder, it's apt that Shepherd's musical career has no reverse gear. Awards, acclaim and platinum album sales flash by in a blur, vanishing in the rear-view mirror. For this questing musician, the focus is always the horizon, the next challenge, the new songs, the crowd out front stamping their feet. "We're still breaking new ground, not just repeating ourselves," notes the standard-bearer for modern blues. "Every album is representative of the things that are going on with me right now. Every album is another page in the book."<br/><br/>True to the brief, Lay It On Down is a tracklisting that runs the musical gamut, with songs that will be embraced by Shepherd's long-standing fans, alongside moments that strike out in fresh directions. "There's certain songs on this album that I think have balls and rock pretty hard," he nods. "Like Baby Got Gone, Ride Of Your Life and Down For Love. Those songs have what a lot of people will expect to hear from me and my band. Blazing guitar, rocking grooves, aggressive playing and stuff. But I wanted there to be a variety of textures and grooves and feelings and emotions conveyed through this record. So Nothing But The Night, I don't know what you'd compare that to. It doesn't sound like any other song we've ever recorded. It's a smoky, vibey kind of song."

Manning. Inspelninegn blev kronan på verket efter ett succefyllt år för Kris Barras med en Europa-turne som inbegrep Norge, Tyskland, Slovakien, Polen, Littauen och spelningar på festivalerna RAWA (Polen) och Ramblin' Man Fair.<br/><br/>The Divine And Dirty är full av influenser. Låtar som I Don't Owe Nobody Nothing, Propane, och She's More Than Enough visar på bredden med stråk av Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Howlin' Wolf och Free. Men där finns även en nutida glöd som hos dagens tungviktare som Rival Sons, Black Stone Cherry och the Cadillac Three.<br/><br/>Hans band består av Josiah J.
