We are proud to present Desideria from Lärbro parish, Gotland! Desideria is, to say the least, a rare bird. As Debussy once described Grieg as “a pink bonbon filled with frost” — this is just as frosty and fragile, yet warm and fiercely powerful. Deeply experimental electronica with vocals in Gutnish (the original language of Gotland)... You might think of Björk, but this is something even more (if possible) idiosyncratic. Another reference could be the wonderfully strange album Illuminations by Buffy Sainte-Marie. But honestly, comparisons don’t really work here — so let’s not bother. Like electronic drizzle, like a disturbing lullaby, like frosty heat...

After a year of creativity and musical exploration, the newly formed band Östersjöar is ready to release their debut vinyl, simply titled Östersjöar. The record is released on Coop Records Gotland and captures the band’s unique sound, described as a train in motion - driven, rhythmic, and infused with krautrock influences. Musically, Östersjöar evokes a fusion of Joy Division’s cold, pulsing rhythms and Hawkwind’s expansive sonic landscapes, with each track offering an atmospheric and hypnotic journey. The album was recorded live during a December evening at the legendary Sandkvie Studio, where the band - together with producer Mattias Bärjed (guitarist in The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Refused), along with Mikael Lyander and Samuel Wizèn at the mixing desk - captured the true DNA of the group in the moment.
