Before André Previn made a name for himself as an internationally renowned conductor of symphony orchestras, he was considered one of the most skilled orchestrators, conductors and composers of American popular music - a "Hollywood-hero", who played a big part in the golden age of the "musicals" of the 1950s and 1960s. As one of the best jazz musicians in the United States and a truly gifted pianist, he was a key figure of the scene in California. Gathering congenial colleagues around himself, he recorded many albums, some of which have their fixed place in top ten lists and were awarded numerous prizes, such as the Oscar for "Porgy and Bess" and "Gigi". Both of these albums are included in this box-set with 13 original albums among highlights from the years 1955-1962, including "Duet", "West Side Story", "Double Play",<br/>"Collaboration", and "A Touch Of Elegance".
