Paul Simon, who has consistently crafted some of the most influential and enduring work in the history of music, has announced the release of his highly anticipated musical work, Seven Psalms. Intended to be listened to as one continuous piece, the 33-minute, seven-movement composition transcends the concept of the "album". <br/> <br/>Recorded entirely on acoustic instruments, and predominantly performed by Paul, Seven Psalms showcases Simon's craft at its finest and most captivating, simply with his voice and guitar. <br/> <br/>A stunning, intricately layered work, it's a record which establishes an engaging and meditative, almost hymnal soundscape, with Paul's lyrics providing the gravitational center for constellations of sound woven from guitar strings and other acoustic instrumentation - including choral elements from the highly-regarded British vocal ensemble VOCES8, and a beautiful vocal appearance by Edie Brickell.<br/> <br/>True to the origin of psalms as hymns meant to be sung rather than spoken, Seven Psalms reaches back to the very genesis of folk music: King David's Psalms. The result is a quietly moving musical experience which uncovers a wealth of subtle details with every repeated listen. With notable collaborations and fresh arrangements, Paul Simon revisits and lends new perspective to ten of his personal favorites from his body of work.<br/><br/>"This album consists of songs that I thought were almost right, or were odd enough to be overlooked the first time around. Re-doing arrangements, harmonic structures, and lyrics that didn't make their meaning clear, gave me time to clarify in my own head what I wanted to say, or realize what I was thinking and make it more easily understood."<br/>- Paul Simon, July 2018<br/><br/>Produced by Simon and Roy Halee, who have worked together since the 1960s, the album features a talented cast of musicians who have joined Simon to lend fresh perspectives on 10 of the artist's favorite (though perhaps less-familiar) songs, drawn from his unparalleled body of work.<br/><br/>Revisiting his repertoire, Simon has selected songs originally appearing on There Goes Rhymin' Simon (1973), Still Crazy After All These Years (1975), One-Trick Pony (1980), Hearts and Bones (1983), The Rhythm of The Saints (1990), You're The One (2000) and So Beautiful Or So What (2011), refreshing and transforming the compositions through new arrangements and collaborations.<br/><br/>Among the many musicians joining Simon on In The Blue Light are jazz icons trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, guitarist Bill Frisell, and drummers Jack DeJohnette and Steve Gadd. Two of the compositions recorded with the New York-based chamber ensemble sextet yMusic, "Can't Run But" and "Rene and Georgette Magritte with Their Dog After the War," are being brought to the stage each night as show-stopping highlights on Simon's Homeward Bound - The Farewell Tour. <br/><br/>Simon explains in the album's liner notes, "It's an unusual occurrence for an artist to have the opportunity to revisit earlier works and re-think them; to modify, even completely change parts of the originals.<br/><br/>"Happily, this opportunity also gave me the gift of playing with an extraordinary group of musicians, most of whom I hadn't recorded with before. I hope the listener will find these new versions of old songs refreshed, like a new coat of paint on the walls of an old family home."

Roger Waters The Lockdown Sessions is a collection of songs that were home-recorded and filmed during the Covid lockdown between 2020 and 2021. Also included with the release is "Comfortably Numb 2022" which was recorded during Waters This Is Not A Drill North American tour.<br/><br/>The Lockdown Sessions were produced by Roger Waters and Gus Seyffert. The recordings feature Roger Waters - Vocals, Guitar and Piano; Gus Seyffert - Bass, Cellos and Vocals; Joey Waronker - Drums and Percussion; Dave Kilminster - Guitar and Rhythm Guitar; Jonathan Wilson - Guitar and Vocals; Jon Carin - Keyboards and Vocals, Lucius (Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig) - Vocals; Bo Koster - Hammond (on all songs except "Mother") and Ian Ritchie - Saxophone ("Two Suns In The Sunset").<br/><br/>The Lockdown Sessions are 5 key tracks from Waters' time with Pink Floyd/his solo career: "Mother" and "Vera" from Pink Floyd's The Wall; "Two Suns In The Sunset" and "The Gunner's Dream" from Waters' last Pink Floyd album, The Final Cut; and "The Bravery of Being Out Of Range" from his acclaimed solo album, Amused To Death. In addition, Waters' new version of the classic Pink Floyd song "Comfortably Numb" appears as the final track on The Lockdown Sessions.<br/><br/>Waters commented:<br/><br/>"Our Us and Them Tour lasted three years...At every gig we did an encore after the show ended with Comfortably Numb...the encore was always Mother...I can't remember why I decided to do other songs...Anyway, at some point after the tour ended...I started thinking, 'It could be an interesting album, all those encores'... "The Encores". "Yeah, that sounds good!" Then...I'm in England to do the Ginger Baker tribute gig on a Tuesday night at the Hammersmith Odeon with Eric Clapton and...the next Saturday marching from the Australian Embassy to Parliament Square to give a speech in support of Julian Assange, then damn it, Covid...Schlummmm! For me, it was Friday, March 13, 2020. Lockdown! So much for the "Encores" project. Unless...<br/>We stuck C. Numb at the end of the collection, as a fitting exclamation point to close this circle of love."
