Nils Lofgren is an American rock musician, recording artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Along with his work as a solo artist, he has been a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band since 1984, a former member of Crazy Horse and founder/front-man of the band Grin. This album is certainly the most ambitious and daring of Nils career. "I Came To Dance" was Nils Lofgren's third solo album. It contains 'Code Of The Road', an epic which always goes down well live and the weird 'Jealous Gun', which appears to be an anti-hunting protest song. The Rolling Stones' "Happy" ends the LP well with backing singers (Patti Austin, Luther Vandross) who give it a soul-rock feel.

According to the Rolling Stone magazine, Jeff Beck is one of the five best guitarists ever and is often called the "guitarist's guitarist". He is also one of the three noted guitarists to have played with the legendary Yardbirds (the other two being Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page). Joined by longtime sparring partner Jan Hammer, Beck kicks the album off with Hammer's "Star Cycle". Most of the songs are almost Sci-Fi instrumental rock tunes with subtle hints of jazz and blues. Then you have the more rocking instrumentals such as "The Pump" or "The Golden Road". The closing track "The Final Peace" was far ahead of its time (1980) with virtuoso guitarwork as we know it today from Joe Satriani, Jason Becker and Steve Vai.
