Let It Be är med bred marginal det mest omdiskuterade albumet i The Beatles-katalogen - både bland fansen och medlemmarna själv. 2003 släpptes, under Paul McCartneys ledning, en ny version av albumet: Let It Be. Naked, utan de i efterhand Phil Spector-producerade stråkpåläggen och körerna. Vilka versioner som är de bästa finns det förmodligen nästa lika många åsikter om som det finns lyssnare, men man måste ha ett hjärta av sten för att (oavsett studioversion) inte kunna ta till sig låtar som The Long And Winding Road, Across The Universe och McCartneys titellåt. Ursprungligen tänkt som ett "back to the roots-projekt" med rock'n'roll rymmer spåren även en av de allra tidigaste The Beatles-kompositionerna: One After 909.<br/>- Claes Olson<br/><br/>Alla Beatles studioalbum har för första gången har remastrats digitalt. Varje album behåller sin ursprungliga design, och har kompletterats med unika bilder och utökade CD-häften med nyskrivna kommentarer. Under en begränsad period kommer varje CD också att innehålla en kort dokumentärfilm om respektive album. <br/><br/>Albumen har remastrats under en fyraårsperiod av ett hängivet team på EMI's Abbey Road Studios i London. Med hjälp av den allra modernaste tekniken, kompletterad med den ursprungliga studioutrustningen från sextiotalet, har teamet varit noggranna med att behålla äktheten och integriteten i de ursprungliga analoga inspelningarna. Resultatet av denna omsorgsfulla process är den bästa ljudåtergivningen av albumen sedan de releasades för första gången.<br/><br/>Releaserna inkluderar alla 12 Beatlesalbumen i stereo, med låtordning och utseende som de ursprungligen releasades i England och i Sverige, samt 'Magical Mystery Tour', som har varit en del av The Beatles albumkatalog allt sedan CD-skivorna först releasades 1987. Dessutom är nu 'Past Masters Vol I och II' sammanslagna till en dubbel-CD, vilket gör att det totalt är 14 album som releasas, varav två är dubbel-CD. Detta är första gången som de första fyra Beatlesalbumen releasas i stereo i sin helhet på CD. Dessa 14 album, tillsammans med en DVD som innehåller de korta dokumentärerna om varje album, finns också tillsammans i en stereobox.<br/><br/>I varje CD-häfte ingår detaljerade inspelningsdetaljer och en historisk tillbakablick på respektive album. Med undantag av 'Past Masters', så innehåller varje album QuickTime-filer med nyproducerade minidokumentärer om respektive inspelning, regisserade av Bob Smeaton. Born in Cambridge in 1946, Roger Keith 'Syd' Barrett was the primary songwriter, guitarist and original lead vocalist in [the first incarnation of] Pink Floyd. He formed the band in the mid-1960s with drummer Nick Mason, bassist Roger Waters and keyboard-player Richard Wright. With their groundbreaking, semi-improvised sets at the legendary UFO Club in London's Tottenham Court Road, they became the prime movers of British psychedelia. Syd Barrett left Pink Floyd in April 1968.<br/><br/>In 1988, EMI Records released an album of Barrett's studio outtakes and previously unreleased material recorded from 1968 to 1970 under the title Opel. <br/><br/>Over the last four decades, Syd Barrett has become the ultimate rock enigma. In 1975, he paid an eerie visit to his former band mates at Abbey Road while they were recording 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', the centrepiece of the Wish You Were Here album he had inspired. He never entered a studio again. In 2001, he was the subject of a BBC Omnibus documentary. <br/><br/>He died in July 2006 but his legacy lives on in the music of R.E.M., Robyn Hitchcock, Julian Cope, Spiritualized, Blur and countless other groups. <br/><br/>This classic album is reissued with new artwork based on the original vinyl release.
