Filmed in black and white, the film is divided into two parts, the first half takes up the story from the point of view of Pilar (Teresa Madruga), a middle-aged political activist whose neighbour Aurora (Laura Soveral) is a senile old lady with a gambling addiction and a propensity to tell colourful tales about her past in Mozambique. As Aurora's health starts to decline, she asks Pilar to track down a man called Ventura (Henrique Espírito Santo), with whom she had a passionate affair as a newly-married young woman. The second part of the film details the affair between the beautiful young Aurora (Ana Moreira) and her Portuguese lover (Carloto Cotta), revealing their secret passion that unfolded in Africa over half an century previously.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray</i>

'Battleship Potemkin' (1925), masterpiece of Russian silent film pioneer Sergei M. Eisenstein, is a dramatised account of the naval mutiny and street riots at the sea port of Odessa that sparked off the 1905 Russian Revolution. When the crew of the Potemkin protests after being given rotten meat as rations, the captain responds by ordering the execution of the dissidents. Outrage at this injustice quickly ignites and the townspeople have soon surrounded the harbour in a mass demonstration - but the scene gives way to tragedy and brutality as the authorities move in to quell the uprising. In British documentary 'Drifters' (1929), which was influenced by and originally screened alongside 'Battleship Potemkin' in the UK, director John Grierson looks at the North Sea herring fleets and the men who worked them. The film pays particular attention to how the once traditional industry has become a more modern enterprise.

To this end, he hires pretty young washerwoman Nini (Francoise Arnoul) with a view to harnessing her natural talents and making her the star of the show.
