The first series follows ex-SAS Sergeant John Porter (Richard Armitage) and MI6 officer Hugh Collinson (Andrew Lincoln) seven years after they participated in an operation in which two soldiers were killed. The second series, 'Project Dawn', follows the efforts of Section 20 agents Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) and Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton), as they try to put an end to an international terrorist group after Porter is kidnapped. The third series, 'Vengeance', finds Section 20 in Africa trying to stop billionaire Conrad Knox (Charles Dance) who aims to use stolen Libyan nuclear devices to further his plans for domination. In the fourth series, 'Shadow Warfare', following the execution of a Section 20 operative in Lebanon by Leo Kamali (Zubin Varla), a member of Al-Zuhari's terrorist organisation, Scott and Stonebridge travel to Colombia to try and take him alive. In the fifth series, 'Legacy', Section 20 continue their globetrotting military missions as Sgts. Stonebridge and Scott travel to Thailand to find the kidnapped daughter of the British ambassador where they are caught up in a plot to bomb the embassy. After a North Korean general dies in the blast, Stonebridge and Scott investigate the covert crime syndicate known as Office 39 who planned the attack to provoke a North Korean war with the West. In the sixth series, 'Retribution', Sgt. McAllister (Warren Brown) is tasked with freeing captive American Sgt. Wyatt (Daniel MacPherson) after the disbanded team is brought together again by Colonel Adeena Donovan (Nina Sosanya). Reunited, they go after an escaped terrorist who is believed to be planning another attack. In the seventh series, 'Silent War', McAllister, Wyatt and Lance Corporal Novin (Alin Sumarwata) are tasked with investigating the murder of an undercover British soldier in Malaysia. Their globetrotting mission leads them to join forces with a Russian operative in search of a stolen nuclear warhead before it falls into the wrong hands and sparks a global nuclear war. In the final series, 'Vendetta', Section 20 is on a mission to recover a British scientist held hostage by the Albanian mafia when they learn of a terrorist plot involving a weaponised virus. Commander Ericson (Jack Hawkins) has already lost one ship to an enemy attack when he is given command of the frigate Saltash Castle. A subsequent confrontation in the North Atlantic tests Ericson's leadership to the limit once again, as he risks sacrificing the lives of his crew for the greater good. 'The Dam Busters' (1955) follows Dr Barnes Wallis (Michael Redgrave), whose invention of the 'Bouncing Bomb' is greeted with scepticism in the Second World War. However, RAF Wing Commander Guy Gibson (Richard Todd) proves the bomb's worth in a daring mission to destroy the German Ruhr Dams. 'The Colditz Story' (1955) follows the experiences of Allied prisoners-of-war who were held in Colditz Castle. These POWs were strictly monitored as they were a high risk category and had constantly tried to escape whichever prison they were previously placed in. Despite being outnumbered by their guards, the prisoners of Colditz continued to strive to achieve their freedom. In 'Ice Cold in Alex' (1958) two English army officers (John Mills and Harry Andrews) and two young nurses (Sylvia Syms and Diane Clare) are driving an ambulance through occupied North Africa to Alexandria. Along the way they pick up a South African officer (Anthony Quayle), and more than once avoid capture and death while crossing the German lines. However, as the South African officer begins to undermine their confidence, they gradually come to suspect him of being a German spy. Finally, 'Cross of Iron' (1977) follows a doomed German platoon facing annihilation at the hands of the Russians in 1943. Non-Nazi German soldier Steiner (James Coburn) resents the arrival of arrogant Prussian Stransky (Maximillian Schell) as his new commanding officer. Stransky is desperate to win an Iron Cross - a medal Steiner has already earned, but considers worthless - and so promotes the highly-recommended Steiner to sergeant. During a siege, Stransky hides in his bunker, terrified of battle, only to later file a report claiming that he himself led a victorious counter-attack.
