Whilst on holiday in Italy, American couple Louise and Ben Dalton (Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy) meet British couple Paddy and Ciara (McAvoy and Aisling Franciosi). After they return home, they accept an invitation for their family, including their daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler) to visit Patrick and Ciara at their home.
