Joseph Cotten stars in this Spaghetti Western directed by Sergio Corbucci. After the end of the American Civil War, fanatical Confederate soldier Colonel Jonas (Cotten) and his three sons steal a shipment of Union gold. They place the gold in a coffin and Jonas hopes to use it to rekindle the war but as they attempt to transport it to safety across hostile territory, greed and violence threaten to come between them and undo all of their plans.
