Triple bill of historical action adventures starring Brendan Fraser. In 'The Mummy' (1999) treasure hunter Rick O'Connell (Fraser) discovers Hamunaptra, the mythical City of the Dead, but is driven away by locals and then arrested. Three years later, librarian Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) and her brother Jonathan (John Hannah) bargain for Rick's freedom so that he will take them to Hamunaptra where Evelyn hopes to find the Book of Amun-Ra. However, when Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), a high priest from Ancient Egypt who was buried alive for his crimes against the Pharaoh, is freed from his prison there, a great evil is unleashed upon the world. Imhotep wants to sacrifice Evelyn in order to resurrect his beloved Anck-su-namun (Patricia Velásquez) and proves himself to be a formidable foe... In the sequel 'The Mummy Returns' (2001), Rick and Evelyn have settled down into married life in London with their son Alex (Freddie Boath). Meanwhile, the British Museum is playing host to the corpse of Imhotep. When ancient magic brings Imhotep back to life, a chain of events is set in motion that will bring about the end of the world, forcing Rick and Evelyn to save the day once again. Finally, in 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' (2008), the ruthless Chinese Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) and his vast army of warriors have been frozen in time, waiting for their moment to rise again. When young archaeologist Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is duped into bringing the ancient warlord back to life, he soon realises he needs help from the only people he knows with experience of battling the undead: his father Rick and his mother Evelyn (Maria Bello). As the emperor attempts to reunite with his massed warriors and fulfil his dream of world domination, Alex and his parents join forces with the immortal sorceress Zi Yuan (Michelle Yeoh) to keep the evil tyrant from achieving his goal.
