American drama from film-maker Cameron Crowe. Playboy David Aames (Tom Cruise) is a vain middle-aged seems to have it all: he's inherited a multi-million-dollar publishing firm from his father and his good looks and charm provide him with a fruitful romantic life. Though sleeping occasionally with his friend Julie (Cameron Diaz), when introduced to Sofia (Penelope Cruz), David is touched by the possibility of real love. Julie, feeling betrayed, decides to drive herself and David off a cliff, killing herself and leaving David with traumatic facial injuries. Despite his emotional and physical damage David and Sofia begin a relationship, but tragedy strikes when, haunted by the recent past, he commits murder. David tries to piece together the truth with psychiatrist McCabe (Kurt Russell), only to discover that he has unwittingly become a client of the Life Extension Corporation and life may never be the same again.
