Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen star in this superhero action adventure directed by Bryan Singer. Charles Xavier (Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) are former friends who look set to become mortal enemies when Senator Robert Kelly (Bruce Davison) attempts to pass a Mutant Registration Act in Congress which would force all mutants to reveal their identities and abilities. While Xavier, who runs an academy for mutants, wishes to enlighten humans and break down the prejudices which divide them, Magneto believes that the only solution is for the mutants to fight back and take over. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), an aggressive loner with an adamantium skeleton and the ability to heal his body of any wound, and Rogue (Anna Paquin), a teenager who can absorb the life force of others simply by touching them, are brought to Xavier's academy, but it isn't long before Magneto's followers are attempting to capture them so that they can use their gifts to further their own deadly plans. The cast also includes Famke Janssen, Rebecca Romijn and Halle Berry.
